Is all music handled on-line?
Yes, all music is handled digitally, however if you would like to distribute CDs - that can happen as well.
What does the 320 MP3s mean?
That's the bit rate of the sample . . . if you look in iTunes you'll see bit rates of 128, 256, 192 etc. You can use a program like Audacity to get the MP3 to 320.
What does MP3 meta data mean?
That's the information that describes the MP3 (artist, composer, track number, label, album, etc.)
What are the up front costs?
None . . . Money only flows one way, from Taliferro Music to you.
What are "distribution costs"?
These are the cost Taliferro Music incurs to get your music into iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Lala, Amazon, etc.
How is money collected and paid?
Through Taliferro Music . . . when a statement is received from the stores it will be forwarded to the artist. Taliferro takes 15% plus the cost of distribution, e.g. if you sell $1,000 work of music, Taliferro Music gets $150, plus the distribution cost which is usually 35-50 dollars, so the artists winds up with $800. All payments to artist are via paypal.
What about the other sites where I have my music?
If you mean Imeem, Last.fm, ReverbNation? Taliferro Music will put you under the Taliferro Music umbrella and manage these sites for the you. Why? Because artists are actually suppose to get paid for every stream. Sites like Imeem and MySpace have made suckers out of artists, because they stream music without paying the artist.
