Taliferro Music formed in February 2009 as an online music label that assists artists who create downtempo, r&b, jazz, house, electronica, dubstep and chill out, with promoting their music to a global audience.
Music is the beautiful representation of art in the form of sound. It has been around for longer than most of us probably know, to say it has come a long way would be an understatement.
There is much controversy surrounding the music industry today, men in suits milking an art form for their own personal greed. This is a monopoly that is slowly but surely being torn apart and the power is being put back into the hands of the creators, every day musicians are gaining fame on their own through the internet and indie labels in the record industry are becoming much more prominent. Why is this?
Well, it’s because people are evolving culturally and becoming more interested in hearing beautiful music that’s real and passionate and an actual piece of art far from the commercialized “song by numbers” type of music that is popular in mainstream media today.
We cannot stress enough how beautiful music truly is and it is incredibly reassuring to see it evolving in the way it has in the last 5 years. No longer does music have to be a business where big name record companies exploit the creations of the artists and take most of their money, music is finally becoming an art again and while we may sound a bit repetitive the beauty in the possibilities that come out of this evolution of the music industry are overwhelming in an amazing way.
Taliferro Music always takes this outlook on music and we’re certainly not your average group of suits trying to make a quick buck off of other people’s creations. On our website you can read a blog with detailed reviews of truly great music and all types of things relating to music and don’t take our word for it, take a look around and see for yourself. This refreshing spin on the music industry is something that needs to be much more prevalent.
No longer should we have to deal with the same old top 40 bubble gum songs that all sound the same and have no real foundation or art behind them. Taliferro Music aims to provide you with incredible music to chill out to and new refreshing sounds that you have to hear to believe, and we’re far from the modern media moguls everyone is sick of dealing with, we have an entire section of our site devoted to giving a lot of this music away for free. We’re not trying to persuade you, we’re not trying to sell you a product, what we aim to do is show you that this is the direction the music industry needs to go in and if you take one minute out of your day to look around the website and check out a couple songs (for free) we promise you will not be disappointed.
Music is a beautiful art form and it is high time that it is treated like one and that is exactly what Taliferro Music aims to do.
A soulful singer, songwriter, and saxophonist that exudes a throwback flavor which old-school music connoisseurs just seem to crave, Ava Lemert is a slice of classic wrapped in new age music. With her graceful beauty and grand voice, Ms. Ava, as she is affectionately referred to by her fans, is a fresh breath of oxygen in the cookie-cutter world of carbon copies. Specializing in the profound and vintage tunes reminiscent of the late greats (Teena Marie, Curtis Mayfield, & Dusty Springfield, to name a few), Ava Lemert is bringing good music back by channeling the massively soulful icons of yore. Thus making the notion “They just don’t make that kind of music anymore,” an officially outdated phrase. This multi-faceted artist’s highly influential saxophone and vocal talents have earned her nonstop accolades as well as a tremendously loyal fan base. Since launching her recording career with her full length debut, “From My Soul” in 2009, Ava also released a total of eight popular singles, including her latest, the haunting sax/vocal tune “When the Night Falls,” which also resulted in her first music video. The most recent recording is Ava L Soul, a four track EP of perfectly-picked covers that feature exceptionally refreshing interpretations of the classic tracks, “Me and Mr. Jones,” Sade’s “Your Love Is King,” “If I Can’t Have You,” and “Ooh Baby Baby.” Currently on a mission to reintroduce new audiences to the timeless music that she knows and loves, Ms. Lemert is far from a fly-by-night, gimmicky entity. Quite the contrary, in fact, Ms. Ava can currently be found performing her brand of contemporary jazz music in every quaint venue with awesome acoustics, in the California region. Determined to bring love and soul back to music with her infectious tracks and flawless vocals, soon many may come down with a case of Ava fever. Ava @ AvaLemert . com

Ju-Ke started out when he got hold of a copy of Fruity Loops in around 2007-2008, it was at first just a means to mess around with sounds with no serious inspiration to actually make music. The more he used FL the more he learned about the different vst’s. It wasn’t until some time later that he gained a copy of Reason 4 and at this point he knew he wanted to start creating music. He learned a bit of theory by studying from various books and attending college classes. Starting out with Dubstep and 4×4 style music he was starting to learn alot more about producing and various effects. Ju-ke was always into Hip Hop throughout his life and the serious producing began when he decided to give creating hip hop a go, and from then he knew for sure this was the path he wanted to go down musically. Producing Hip Hop also gave him much more knowledge about various effects and there uses, than any other genre ever could, While picking up new tips such as sampling techniques. In 2014 Ju-Ke began meeting other artists and began collaborating with producers and rappers. This was also the year that Ju-Ke was musically born and began to upload his tracks onto soundcloud. luke_crookes1 @ hotmail . com
Like a new favorite tune that refuses to exit your recent memory, Kerboo’s music is like everything you’ve never heard before. With his highly distinctive method of music creation in conjunction with his impeccable flair for unique song composition, he is simultaneously a throwback to the golden era of true musicianship and new-age melodic mash-ups with the capacity to effortlessly transition between the two. His interesting approach to production blends jazz, neo-soul, trip-hop, lounge, and R&B, and separates the Chicago native from virtually all neo-soul performers. In short, this artist almost defies genre categorization. Specializing in keyboard and bass, and the occasional collaboration with hit-maker Ty Showers, his music centers on love and enjoying the simple things in life. Soulful compositions and extraordinary pieces such as “You Make Me Feel So Good,” Kerboo’s incredibly smooth vocals are set to various combinations of guitar, piano, synthesizers, and percussion in such a way that demands reverence. kerboo @ taliferro . com
Rented Mule and The Don Jones Tribe
“Jazz that funks” is the concept. And this tight, talented band, based in Philadelphia and steeped in mid-to-late 20th-century American music idioms and performance, wears it like a crown. Seven players bring decades of experience from recording and touring with such artists as Sun Ra, Bo Diddley, The Temptations, Sonny Stitt, Bonnie Raitt, David Amram, Rashid Ali, Buddy Miles, Badal Roy, Pharoah Sanders, Natalie Cole, and others. Fans of the Brecker Brothers, Weather Report, and Return to Forever will find kindred spirits in Todd Horton (trumpet and flugelhorn), Jason O’Mara (tenor and soprano sax), Pete McRae (guitar), Camille Brown (keys and vocals) and Napoleon Black (percussion), along with the rhythmic spine of the band, Don “DA” Jones (drums) and Dan Greenburg (bass), who share writing credits on most Rented Mule tunes. As good as the individual players are, there’s no star or featured performer. It’s a real, live band, whose collaborative instincts offer improvisational fluency and fluidity within highly structured compositions. Don Jones describes himself as a “physical fitness freak,” and his muscular drumming, along with Greenburg’s virtuoso attack on bass, anchor the band’s kinetic swirl of energy, through shifting tempos, textures, and time signatures. Everybody solos, everybody comps, everybody cooks. These are musicians capable of playing in any form or genre. Fusion and funk fans will be grateful they’ve applied that capability to such deserving music. Rented Mule jazz funkin’ rocks.
The group is comprised of Elena “Joy” Castagnoli (vox, words, concept), Ale “Mana” Manassero (computer programming, keyboards, synth, words, and concept), Paolo “Warrell” Varello (sound engineer, arrangements, bass, and keyboards), and Ivan “Shon” Augello (visuals in live performances). Terzasfera is an audio gem anchored by DJ-culture influences, which swiftly filters through their sound. The group effortlessly captures the atmospheric flavor of chill-out, dub, house sub-genres, trip-hop, and other reverberations to create a distinctive sound and groove, adding authentic originality to all of their live performances. In May of 1999, the group’s debut album simply titled, “Terzasfera” established the group’s sound, which includes: jungle drum and bass, accompanying Italian vocals, and vintage flavor sax and guitar. After their debut, Terzasfera participated in various competitions and projects, among the most significant: “Arezzo Wave Piemonte”, “Colonia Sonora”, “Ritmika”,” “Rock targato Italy,” “Sound Yard,” “Rourestock,” “Interferenze,” “Music No Smog,” and “Casse di Risonanza”. In 2002, the second mini album entitled “How to Burn the Air” contained a handful of songs infused with electro-pop and soul influences about environmental and social issues. With two, singles “Think Again” and “How to Burn the Air” taking the limelight, this group was officially welcomed by fans and critics alike. Furthermore, they have even participated in an array of performances and festivals, most notably: “Tora Tora festival” (organized by Manuel Agnelli and Mescal productions along with Meg, Tiromancino, Planet funk and Underworld), “Alexandria Wave”, “Milano Film festival”, “Sounds by Audiocoop” and is confirmed in “Arezzo Wave Piemonte” and “Ritmika”. Perhaps the turning point for this group came in 2004 when they published “Fade,” a song that marks the progression of the group towards the trip hop-ish fusion with texts in English it is known as today. The new productions earned the group accolades on portals and magazines of national circulation (all music, music of the Republic, the press, noise, making music, the pile, Rockit) and passages independent circuits and radio national (RadioUnoRai). Over the years, Tersazfera has realized three mini-CD’s, and a full album, played many clubs, and significant festival stages as supporter bands of famous Italian and European artists (Underworld, Planet Funk, Casino Royale etc.) With various setbacks, differences, advancements, and risks in the rear-view, Joy and company are working to realize their most dynamic project to date. An international and rapidly budding die-hard fan base sets the stage for Terzasfera to assume the role of a super-group unlike groups we’ve witnessed in the past. info @ terzasfera . it
The colorful synthesizer soundscapes and downtempo instrumentals and huge waves of melodies will instantly appeal to electronic music fans. Sprinkling hip hop and slowed down techno beats, Trestal begins to differentiate himself from other electronic and IDM artists. His breaks make the music notable, creating unique theatrical, and over zealous quiet. Check out the low meaty downtempo bass grooves he constructs while layering synthesizer upon synthesizer. Or listen to how closely tied the electric piano chords are to the deep bass drum. It’s pretty normal to shift from ambient to IDM electronica and Trestal seems to be making a smooth transition. Trestal began creating ambient and electronic music in December of 2008. Surreal Dreams was Trestal’s first release which embodied dark, glistening beautiful sounds. Trestal has released 5 albums since. Each compilation changing styles along the way. trestal @ taliferro . com
Ty Showers composes and produces fusion, jazz, electronic jazz, nu-jazz, downtempo, jazz funk, jazz rock, electronic chill and an occasional slow jam. Ty Showers gets around. With a life that reads like a travelogue (he’s lived in Chicago, Denver, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, Miami, and Seattle) and a musical career that began before he hit puberty, this artist has a personal history as interesting and varied as just about any musician you’d want to meet. Born in Chicago in 1960, Ty got his start as an R&B guitarist at 12. By age 16, he had played with The Drifters and started his own band, Marcedes. In the 1970s, he discovered jazz fusion. Inspired by artists like Jean-Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, and other fusion pioneers, Ty began experimenting with synthesizers and digital sequencers. A multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, flute, and a variety of keyboards), Ty spent much of the late ‘70s, ‘80s, and early ‘90s composing and recording electronic music. After a hiatus of more than a decade, Ty came back to music in 2008, first reworking his extensive early catalogue. Recent work remains true to his original vision, combining jazz, R&B, funk, and fusion influences, and creating his own sensuous, signature sound. The restless, searching quality in his compositions reflects the journey Ty Showers has taken, geographically and artistically, for much of his life. The music has matured, but there’s a thrill of youthful exploration. When he sits at a keyboard, he doesn’t sit still. He’s going places. We’re lucky to be along for the ride. One of Taliferro’s most prolific artists, Ty Showers is currently working on yet another album to add to the extensive collection. ty . showers @ music . taliferro . com
Zoffter is a music producer from Spain who discovered Dubstep while living abroad in Boston. The wobbles, the lfos, the drops…drove him crazy from the first time he heard the sounds, and immediately he wanted to make this type of music. He took a 6-month course on music production in Madrid, Spain and a Sound Design course in London, UK. Then, he began to produce the music he loved the most: Dubstep. Once a guitarist for a hardcore band, an aggressive and nasty style definitely influences his music. When not producing, Zoffter DJ’s. He has an EP now available entitled, “Winter is Coming.” You will also find tracks on his SoundCloud page. Zoffter is dedicated to working hard to become better and keep his followers happy. zofft . management @ gmail . com
